The Yarl River Jazz Band was formed in March 1997 by local musicians from the Furness and South Lakes area.

The Yarls were an entertaining Dixieland band who cover most styles from New Orleans to swing, including original material and sousaphone based Frisco style jazz. Their performances were always received with enthusiasm. They had a repertoire of over 300 tunes which meet the requirements of a wide range of functions, from club dates to weddings.
